Join us for a unique and creative summer workshop
designed for Korean American youth
"Story of Us"
This program was designed to help Korean American youth freely express their emotions and experiences, empathize with their peers, and build healthy relationships and a sense of identity. It is not merely a drama class; rather, it focuses on helping participants understand “themselves as they are” and connect with one another through story-sharing, improvisational activities, movement, and games.
The program is conducted using the “participatory empathy theater (Playback Theater)” method. Participants share their stories, which are then expressed and empathized with through improvisational theater. A key feature of this approach is that anyone can participate without pressure, regardless of prior theater experience or special talent.
We hope this will be a valuable opportunity for Korean American youth—who often grapple with academic and career stress, concerns about cultural identity, and peer relationships—to express their emotions in a healthy way and gain a deeper understanding of one another.
The workshop will be held in two sessions: one in English and one in Korean. Each session is limited to the first 15 applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. Students wishing to participate must apply for an informational meeting in advance.
