'Play with me!'
Child Development & Milestone Workshop

Workshop for parents of children aged 0-3: Play with Me!

The KCSC will be hosting a workshop titled “Play with Me!” for parents of children aged 0-3 on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

This educational program, supported by a grant from King County's Best Starts for Kids, will utilize the ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaires), a trusted developmental screening tool, to assess children's developmental stages. Parents will learn the importance of early intervention based on the developmental stages and discover appropriate play methods and interactions that can enhance their children’s development through a practical workshop.

The workshop will be led by Shelly Choi, an Infant Mental Health Therapist with extensive experience and the Early Childhood Development Specialist at the Korean Community Service Center. Participants will be able to check their children's developmental stages using the ASQ and receive explanations. Additionally, after the workshop, parents of children who may need early intervention can arrange individual consultations. The event will also provide an opportunity for families raising children of similar ages to share information and experiences, learn from each other, and offer mutual support.

Instructor Jaeeun Lee, who is actively involved in the Ottugi Parenting program(a parenting education program for parents of children aged 0-5), will also participate in the workshop. Families will receive a set of toys tailored to their child’s developmental stage, and babysitting and snacks will be provided to allow parents to fully participate in the workshop.
